Carson Session #2 (Spring 09)

The 2nd session at Carson this year proved to be a very successful and LARGE session! With 72 kids (that attended...we were missing 5 students that day), 25+ High Schooler's, 10 volunteers/staff members, and (at one point) 10 members of the CSUDH volleyball team...it was definitely a FULL HOUSE! Eric also spoke to the kids about the importance of education and chasing your dreams....

2009 Spring Carson D4K Session Starts

The 2009 spring Carson HS D4K sessions started yesterday. Currently we have 3 schools that have kids in the program with a fourth one being added next week (which does not include the HS vball teams from Carson HS). With 52 kids, 12 HS volleyball players, 6 workers, and D4K staff, it was a full house. Yesterday was the intro session where everyone introduced them self and then the kids talked about what they want to be when they grow up...

Here are a few pics from yesterday...

D4K Hawthorne Spring 2009 Sessions Start

The 2009 spring Hawthorne D4K sessions started yesterday. This program continues to become stronger and better (with new schools participating). This program is unique because we are dealing with different school districts in different cities. We had some great help yesterday for the kids too...thanks to the Jeremy Roueche, Mira Costa D4K Service Club for coming (Kam Bain, Sophie Everhard, Mackenzie Green, Tony Ensbury, and Jake Miller), the Carson HS girl's vb team, and Kimi Murphy (along with Brian and Vanessa of course).

Thanks to everyone!! Here are some pics from yesterday's session...

Carson High School Service Club School Cleanup

Here are pictures of Carson HS campus clean-up on Mon, Feb 2nd (thank you Christy). The kids did a good job, stayed cheery, and did get a lot of trash. They are pledging to do this the first Monday of every month. A good start, though, and even though they worried a bit that they looked like they were doing detention, they encouraged each other, and really got a good look at what gets left on the ground on a daily basis.
