Fundraiser for Christopher's Haven Also Raises Money for D4K

On Saturday, September 18th, twenty weekend athletes gathered at sand volleyball courts in several suburban towns west of Boston to take part in the fifth annual King and Queen of the Backyard Beach Volleyball Tournament and Barbecue. This is a doubles volleyball tournament played as a reverse co-ed King and Queen format. The net is set a women's height. and men cannot block and must hit from behind a line established 10 feet from the net. This is a fun tournament because it emphasizes teamwork and making quick adjustments based on the abilities of your teammate and your opponents.

This years tournament was a fundraiser for Christopher's Haven ("Home for kids when cancer hits home"). Thanks to the generous donations of the participants and their sponsors we were able to raise over $1000. In addition to the direct contributions we had sponsorship from Boos Creations, Donelans Supermarkets of Littleton, Starbucks Coffee of Acton, the Littleton Sub Shoppe, Dig 4 Kids Education Program, and Sit 'n Bull Catering. Our sponsors helped by providing prizes and refreshments for the tournament, reducing the cost of putting on the tournament, which directly increased the amount we were able to donate to Christopher's Haven.

After the tournament concluded, $122.25 was donated back to Dig 4 Kids. Thanks to all who ran, sponsored, or participated in the tournament!!
